She’s a Man Eater

It’s kinda unassuming on the outside, but take a look inside this pad above the Sunset Strip. It’s located on Hopen Place; as in, “I’m Hopen I can someday afford this Place.”

The home is built like a horseshoe around this super incredible back yard. I don’t know what they’ve been feeding that plant, but I suspect a lot more than Miracle Grow. Wait, did you hear that? I distinctly heard someone say, “Feed me, Seymour.”
A River Runs Through It

Hey Architecture Nerds! You might like this one. TakeSunset sure did! It’s the Norton House, designed by Buff and Hensman, in 1954. Don’t ask me why it’s called the Norton House.

I wonder if it’s named after Edward Norton? Probably.

It’s kinda like a time capsule in here.

They sure don’t put fun chicken and fish mosaics up in every house these days.
A Look Back
| April 19, 2011 | Posted by Matt under Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills West, Los Feliz, Mid-Century, Modern, Real Estate, Sold, Spanish, Sunset Strip |
Remember these four fabulous homes? Well, now they’re bringing joy to brand new owners.

Romantical 1517 N Beverly Drive just sold, on Friday, for $1,415,000–$20 G’s over asking price.

4778 Cromwell This flavorful Los Feliz beauty closed last Thursday at $2,200,000.

Another cool Los Feliz property, 3604 Lowry, sold yesterday for $1,237,500.

And then there’s, 9050 Oriole Way. It sold earlier this month at $14,500,000, but, no, not to Charlie Sheen.
Venice Life on the Canal
| April 19, 2011 | Posted by Matt under Contemporary, Real Estate, Venice |

*sloop* *sloop* That’s the sound my oars make as we glide on up to this brand new contemporary home, on a canal, in Venice. As you exit the watercraft, don’t mind the bushes, just jump over them. They’re there for protection fr0m canal pirates.
The neighborhood is dense, so homes that optimize the entire lot space are prime. With three livable levels, this home is a great example of well-designed space and efficiency. And it’s the only one, on the canals of Venice, with LEED certification–that means it’s “green.”
