Cool Live/Work Space
| September 2, 2011 | Posted by Matt under Architecture & Decor, Glassell Park, Los Angeles, Real Estate |

Wait! I know what you’re gonna say, “That’s not a residential property. That’s a water tank.” But it is a residential property! (Zoned R-2, two-family residential, in Glassell Park). It was recently re-designed by Architect Tony Unruh–who, in my humble opinion, has done some pretty cool projects.

This place is a perfect habitat for the “live/work situation.” (Especially for you creative types out there.)

The ample workspace is currently being used as a recording studio.
Gothic Modern on Appian Way

Here’s a home new to the West Hollywood Hills market on Appian Way. Ah, “via appia” brings back memories of three years in high school Latin class.
You know, the original Appian Way was revered by, the Roman poet, Statius, who called it longarum regina viarum, or “queen of long-distance roads.” But I digress.

This 5 bedroom, 5 bath, Architectural “Gothic Modern” has been beautifully renovated and updated perfectly for a stylish modern lifestyle.
Sunny Serene Sanctuary of Solitude

Summer Sundays are always perfect for swimming. Am I right, or am I right? This Bel Air home looks like the ultimate lazy Sunday retreat. My little three-legged Weber grill would look really great next to that sparkling salt-water pool.

Mmm. . . disappearing walls of glass, high ceilings with clerestory windows, loads of natural light, and rich hardwoods.

5786 Valley Oak in Los Feliz

Wonder what lies behind the red door? Let’s check it out.

Big windows, clerestory, wood floors, crooked ceiling–NICE.

Sliding walls of windows–ALWAYS NICE.

The main house, here, was designed by Gregory Ain. According to Wikipedia,
“Gregory Ain was an American architect active in the mid-20th century. Working primarily in the Los Angeles area, Ain is best known for bringing elements of modern architecture to lower- and medium-cost housing. Ain was perceived as a communist, and the growing “Red Scare” caused him to lose several opportunities, including participation in the Case Study Program.”
